In reality, large companies that manage billions can put a few thousand to a few million into thousands of small companies with very little risk to themselves, because they are investing only a tiny fraction of the assets that they manage. It is small investors who cannot safely invest in small companies because the minimum investment would be too large a percentage of their assets to put in a risky company.
